HBS New Venture Competition 2019

Prizes up to US$ 75,000
and more benefits

As you might know, the Harvard Business School organizes every year the prestigious "New Venture Competition". Its Alumni Track is now open to alumni with early-stages ventures. The venture must have an alumna/alumnus as a founder and show less than $2 million USD in revenues.

The Harvard Business School Club of France has been mandated by HBS to organize the European Finale, recruitung European candidates.
A jury selects the best applications which will take part in the European Finale in Paris on February 20th, 2019.
Depending upon the number of applications received one or 2 European Finalists will be sent to Boston where they will compete at the worldwide level for the following prizes:

* Winner (75K$)
* Runner-up (25K$)
* Crowd favorite (5K$). 


You may be interested yourself or in case you are in contact, through your interest for entrepreneurship, with alumni eligible for this competition please encourage them to consider competing.

HBS New Venture Competition 2018

With this annual initiative HBS Alumni Clubs & Associations and the HBS Rock Center of Entrepreneurship provide a launch pad for innovative new ventures from HBS Alumni.

We encourage anyone of you involved in a new venture to actively participate. The winner will get 75.000 USD in cash.
As a winner you will also have access to in-kind services to help build your business and be exposed to one of the world’s most powerful networks. These are un-doubtfully great rewards.
However, participating can also be very beneficial for those who don't come out first or second in the contest.
In any case you will have your pitch checked by a competent jury and as a participant in the finals you will have access to potential investors, mentors and advisors.

Deadline for submission of your application is January 29, 2018.

2014 Winner New Venture Contest Europe: ParcelHome

RESULTS OF THE REGIONAL EUROPEAN ROUND OF THE HBS ALUMNI NEW VENTURE CONTEST

Hosted by the HBS French Alumni Club in Paris

ParcelHome - UK 

There was not one empty chair in the hose at the European + Israel NVC regional finals in Paris where a panel of judges composed of experienced VCs coming from Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Spain, Switzerland and the UK and investing in all the high growth areas of Internet, IT, Cleantech, MedTech and Life Sciences voted Greg Mackin MBA 2007 and John Brown MBA 1977 with their company ParcelHome – a UK based company - the Winner from the 15 entries including 5 from the UK. 

Parcelhome addresses the issue of failed home deliveries and offers returns of goods from home by installing connected parcel lockers at online shoppers individual homes. It targets the 10 million heavy online buying households in Northern Europe that are located in suburbs and rural areas and cannot be efficiently served by collect shops and grouped parcel lockers.

By offering a simple and safe receptacle for deliveries thanks to its proprietary technology, it reduces home delivery costs while improving customer service.

The company was founded in 2013 by Greg Mackin (HBS '07), and its 14-strong team consists of experts in the fields of logistics - including John Brown (HBS '77)  - IT & electronics and outdoor furniture. 
After very positive feedback from e-tailers, postal networks and carriers, it plans to raise further capital in May.

ParcelHome will now represent Europe at the HBS Alumni New Venture Contest Finals to be held on Campus on April 29-30, 2014 for the prize of $25,000. 

  

 

New Venture Competition 2014


With more than half of HBS alumni classifying themselves as entrepreneurs at some point in their lives, the New Venture Competition is designed to support both students and alumni on their entrepreneurial journey.

Alumni pursuing new business and social-impact ventures have the opportunity to participate in the alumni New Venture Competition by one of 15 regional competitions hosted by 17 HBS alumni “hub” clubs around the world. The winners from each regional competition will advance to online crowd vote finals that will include three tracks:

  • Most Innovative (open to all alumni and student voters)
  • Greatest Impact (open to all alumni and student voters)
  • Best Investment (chosen by a panel of VC and angel investor voters)

The winner of each track will receive a $25,000 cash prize, an invitation to HBS for the student New Venture Competition, and an opportunity to attend an entrepreneurship summit to be held on campus April 29-30, 2014.
